On May 19, 2025, H.E. Wei Hongtian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Grenada, H.E. Dame Cécile La Grenade, Governor General of Grenada, and Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, jointly attended the completion and handover Ceremony of the Maurice Bishop International Airport Upgrade and Rehabilitation Project.

The Airport Project, officially commenced in February 2021, marks another milestone in the profound friendship and practical cooperation between China and Grenada. Ambassador Wei expressed his gratitude to the relevant Ministries of the Grenada Government and the Grenada Airport Authority for their strong support, coordination and cooperation. He also expressed his gratitude to China Harbour for its hard work and dedication, as well as for overcoming many difficulties and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. He reiterated that China was willing to enhance cooperation with Grenada on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit and win-win results, carry out more aid projects in Grenada and deepen the friendship between the two countries.

Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell reviewed the process of the Project and emphasized the significance of the Airport to Grenada’s economic and social development. He expressed his gratitude to China for its long-term support and assistance, and hoped that the two sides would enhance more cooperation and further strengthen bilateral relations.
